Split, Croatia

Quick Overview

Who is this Trip For?

You want to visit a stunning city with rich history, amazing adventure activities, a spectacular palace, delicious food, and lush water!

Split is perfect for backpackers, solo travelers, couples, and families who want a 4-5 Day adventure in the Sun!

Suggested Activities

The Roman Emperor Diocletian is one of the most significant figures in Roman history.

Explore his palace which dates back to the 4th Century AD, and was also used as a military fortification, is now one of the best-preserved examples of Roman architecture and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site!

You can also find the Sphinx, which is the last of the 12 original Egyptian Sphynxes that were brought to Split by Diocletian!

Take a boat tour to one of the nearby islands, such as Hvar and Brač, for some stunning views and beaches.

On Brač, you can find the Golden Horn,  an interestingly shaped headland with a stunning beach! (see image above).

This is the promenade in front of the Palace that offers great views of the sea and the city.

Hike up the nearby Marjan Hill for some great panoramic views of the city. There are steps all the way up, so it is suitable for all fitness levels.

This is especially worth it at Sunset!

In the Palace, City, and along the Riva (Promenade), there are many delicious restaurants.

Try anything from local seafood to burgers or steakhouses!

Visit the nearby town of Trogir, another UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its well-preserved medieval architecture.

Top Tips

The weather is best in July-September, but that is also THE BUSIEST.

If you can, visit in the shoulder season (June, or September), to get some early or late sunshine, and avoid the crowds!

Eat a traditional Croatian Breakfast in the Palace, or try the famous Croatian Dish: Pašticada

Also, make sure to visit the BEST ICE CREAM Shop in the city, HANDMADE (link here)!

The city is quite hilly, and the streets are often narrow, so bring some walking shoes so you can see everything without getting blisters.

Make it Unique

If you want an unforgettable experience, book a white water rafting tour and see Croatia’s nature by the river!

This action and adrenaline-packed adventure will be truly memorable!

We recommend booking with Ante, who has almost 2000 reviews, 4.9 Stars! (link here).

Trust us, this is amazing!

Either to jump yourself (at your own risk) or to watch some of the locals SEND IT, this spot, with up to 20-meter cliffs, is well worth the short walk from the palace!

In summer, at 12:00 Noon, there are regular performances in the main square (Peristyle) in the Palace.

Here you can see actors dressed up as Roman Soldiers, Royalty, Servants, and the Emperor, as they reenact how a ceremony would have taken place in the time of the Romans.

This is epic!
